About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Montréal’s vibrant Little Italy, Caffè Italia stands out as an authentic café and coffee shop that captivates both locals and visitors alike. This charming spot at 6840 Boul. Saint-Laurent offers a delightful blend of traditional Italian coffee culture and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a cozy European escape right in the city.

Stepping inside Caffè Italia, you immediately notice the intimate diner vibe—unpretentious yet thoughtfully curated. The aroma of freshly ground espresso beans mingling with the scent of baked pastries creates an irresistible sensory welcome. Coffee aficionados will find themselves enamored by the richness and balance of every cup. The cappuccino comes highly praised, described by regulars as nothing short of "chef’s kiss," perfectly creamy with a velvety foam that luxuriously coats the palate. Alongside this, the cortado, macchiato, and caffè latte are crafted with remarkable consistency, each sip a testament to true Italian espresso artistry.

The menu extends beyond exceptional coffee to a tempting array of Italian-inspired bites. The cannoli shine with their fresh, crunchy shells and sweet, luscious filling—a pairing that delights every customer like a little indulgent secret. Freshly baked almond biscotti add a satisfying crunch perfect for dipping into any coffee, enriching the experience with their subtly nutty flavor. Savory options are not to be missed; the selection of sandwiches, from the salty, tender prosciutto and cheese ciabatta to the refreshing caprese sandwich and hearty pork sandwich, provide robust flavors balanced by fresh ingredients. Each bite complements the café’s robust drinks, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, a midday break, or a casual lunch.

Customers rave about the authentic Italian vibe at Caffè Italia, often comparing it favorably to cafes found in Rome, Naples, and Positano. One visitor shared, "This wonderful coffee shop could hold its own in any of those places," underscoring the genuine craftsmanship and care poured into each cup and plate. The friendly, quick service adds to the welcoming ambiance, making customers feel like part of a local tradition rather than just another patron.

Whether you’re seeking a moment of quiet indulgence with a rich espresso or a light meal paired with a perfectly balanced hot chocolate, Caffè Italia delivers an experience that lingers beyond the last sip. It’s a must-visit sanctuary for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts looking to savor the essence of Italy without leaving Montréal.

Great little spot in little Italy just popped in for a coffee before we went to the market across the street. Quick friendly service, definitely a local hangout.

Absolute the Best Coffee house outside of Europe. Everytime we visit Montreal this is a must stop for my wife and I. Such a great vibe at Caffe Italia. We just got back from Italy, Rome, Naples and Positano and this wonderful coffee shop could hold its own in any of those places. Besides the great coffees, they offer wonderful pastries and sandwiches. Their cannoli are simply amazing. Their croissants are also awesome. Try the Croissant Sarni. But the coffees, oh the coffees are so amazing. Can’t wait to get back. Paul Calgary

A must visit place. The Cafe Quattro, Cafe Freddo with milk and the Crema are spectacular. Loved my almond biscotti, as well!

This is the best spot to get an authentic Italian sandwich in Montréal. They also have great coffees and deserts. The seating is limited and it usually gets a bit crowded, especially during the summer months, but it's definitely worth the visit !

Elite vibes and sensational coffee. This place has a timeless charm that shows they’ve been doing things their way for decades. From the depth of the coffee to the sun-faded team soccer photos covering the walls, it radiates pure nostalgia. Definitely worth a stop for a sincere slice of Montreal’s Little Italy life. The small sandwiches are super tasty (more of a snack than a full meal) but the quality of ingredients makes every bite hit perfectly.

Caffè Italia is a charming, old-school gem that has stood the test of time—quite literally, since 1956. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a cozy, nostalgic atmosphere that feels like a slice of authentic Italian tradition. I ordered their cannoli and latte, and both were absolute perfection,a perfect pairing. Some places don’t need lengthy reviews because they speak for themselves, and Caffè Italia is one of them. If you appreciate timeless quality and old-world charm, this café is a must-visit.
